Nooruse Aeg (Time of Youth), a poem by Gustav SUITS

Gustav SUITS (Võnnu November 30, 1883 - Stockholm 23 May 1956) is one of the greatest poets Estonian.

Cofounder Group Noor-Eesti and promoter in his country of modernism influenced by the European symbolism, he forcefully expressed the revolutionary enthusiasm of his generation ( Fire life 1905), then cultivated darker lyrical and melancholy (Country winds, 1913) and reflected the events of his time in poems committed invoice expressionist ( Everything is a dream, 1922). Who chose to emigrate in 1944, he breathed his last verses in his exile and nostalgia for the bitterness caused by the tragic fate of Estonia ( Fire and wind, 1950).

the time to laugh, cry this time,
time to wipe the tears.

time to sleep under the black soil.

But the youth of the time?

not this fast, it will not ask
not mind chewing shrivel:
it is time to prosper, it is time to taste happiness -
and beloved around the neck to begin.

TIME YOUTH

time ago that laughing and crying,
time to wipe her tears.
fixed time to live and die,
and time to sleep under the dark earth.

But what is the period of youth?

This is not that fast nor beg, nor
fade by the tiring soul
it's time to flower, tasting the joy
- and hang around the neck of a loved one.
